Lanphier Drama Club: The Curious Savage

This year, the Lanphier Drama Club, led by Mr. Loren Wilson, is putting on the play “The Curious Savage” by John Patrick. The show will be performed on April 27 and 28 at 7p.m. and April 29 at 2p.m. The show will be at the Legacy Theatre, and information about buying tickets can be found at the bottom of this article. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the doors will open 30 minutes prior to the show.

The play, which takes place in the 1950’s, is about a lady named Mrs. Ethel P. Savage, who is left behind a fortune when her husband passes away. She wishes to give this money away to help people chase their dreams. Her stepchildren; however, do not like this plan because they want the money for themselves. To stop her from going through with her plan, they commit her to a sanitorium, where she finds people who are loyal and caring, contrasting the greed of the people outside of the sanitorium.

The cast is made up of 11 Lanphier students, six of whom are seniors. Many of these seniors have been involved in the school plays for all four of their years at Lanphier. The students in this play have been working hard on this production since early February and are anxious to perform. Come out and support the Lanphier drama club and enjoy the story. It will make you laugh, and possibly even cry as you get attached to the characters and their stories.
