Drama club is one of the most underrated clubs in the school. It’s full of many talented and amazing students who thrive on stage and backstage as well. Ask anyone of the members, drama club is one of the best clubs to be in. No one can judge you for being yourself, there’s always a fun atmosphere and it helps you become a better actor. Anyone can join, too, you just have to participate in the activities we do.
Riley York (12), president of LHS drama club, has been a member for four years. She has taken part in every play including, Macbeth, Murder by the Book, A Midsummer’s Night Dream and Alice the Musical. She enjoys being able to help with the new content and help her fellow students to grow their acting skills and their theater experience. Right now, she is the director of the third year of drama club’s fine arts group.
“We meet every Friday and do theater games and exercises. Sometimes we have guest speakers come in and teach us skills or new exercises. We are trying new things, such as going to outings. This year will be the third year of the drama club performing at fine arts night. Drama club is a place where you can grow as a person and form new relationships,” say Riley.
Lanphier High School had a Fine Arts Fair this past Saturday. Jazz band, the LHS drumline and drama club performed. It was located at Southeast High School’s auditorium at 7:00 pm. It was $5.00 to get in and was full of acting and wonderful music put on by the talented students of LHS.
Speaking of talented students, has anyone really seen how amazing the drama kids are at acting? They all have a wonderful talent, and it’s definitely overshadowed by Lanphier’s basketball. It’s good to see students actively participate in school activities, but it shouldn’t push aside the other clubs and parts of LHS that are as equally good.
If anyone is ever looking for an extra curricular to do, drama club is always welcoming in new students. They love to see students expressing themselves, and it’s also a great place because it is a worry free zone. You’re free to be yourself and that’s why most of the students adore it.
